Horton Plains National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its unique montane ecosystem. Sitting at an elevation of over 2,000 meters, the park features rolling grasslands, cloud forests, and a refreshing climate that feels worlds away from Sri Lanka’s tropical coast.

The park’s most iconic attraction is World's End, a sheer cliff with a dramatic drop of nearly 900 meters, offering panoramic views that stretch across the island on clear mornings. Another highlight is Baker’s Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery.

Horton Plains is best explored via a well-marked circular trekking trail (approx. 9 km), making it ideal for nature lovers and light adventure seekers. Visitors often encounter wildlife such as sambar deer, endemic birds, and occasionally monkeys along the trail. The best time to visit is early morning (before 10 AM) to avoid mist covering the views at World’s End. The park is open year-round, but clear weather is more common from January to March.
